...to childhood with The Kindermusik Room! Like a colorful, breathtaking butterfly, childhood arrives in all of its wonder to you , the parent, full of possibilities and goals and messes. And then one day, before you even realize, childhood has fluttered away. Before childhood flutters away, soak every moment up in The Kindermusik Room. During classes, you will intentionally engage in each developmental stage of your child's life and then be equipped with activities and tools to make parenting at home more fulfilling and meaningful. We offer classes for all children, up to the age of seven years, where we will sing, play, read, dance and more during our time together. Classes are 45 minutes long (Young Child classes are 75 minutes long ) and feature a different child-relevant theme each month. Below, you will find a detailed description of each class and the themes we will feature during the Fall 2018 semester.
Foundations -for babies up to 1 year -In Foundations, a joyful first Kindermusik experience, parents and their newborns, infants, and crawlers engage in instrument play, dance, exploration time, and together time. As they do so, they strengthen critically important early parent-child bonds; learn about their baby's early development, fine-tune their baby-communication skills, and receive expert advice and parenting resources based on the most recent research in early childhood development. Welcome to the magic time of life, that all-too-fleeting first chapter of life when miracles happen daily!
Level 1 -for younger toddlers (12-24 months old)- Level 1 is an energetic and joyful celebration of the very young child's growing new movement and language skills. A mix of parent-child joint activities and child-focused activities provide parents a unique opportunity to participate in all the music and movement fun, but also to stand back, observe, and revel in how these older babies and toddlers are beginning to walk, talk, sing, play, clap, tap, and dance, all on their own!
Level 2 - for older toddlers (2-3 years old) - Level 2 is a music-filled class that celebrates the unique joys of the growing child. It features a mix of activities for parents and children that includes singing, dancing, and exploring and playing instruments. Children will get to practice their active listening, turn-taking, and social skills, as well as develop their gross- and fine-motor skills. Parents and caregivers will also get tips and ideas for using music throughout the week, taking the learning and fun home.
Level 3 - for the preschool age (3 1/2 -5 years old) Level 3 classes combine the preschooler's natural love of music, storytelling, and imaginative play. Early music concepts are introduced, and age-appropriate activities will help foster the child's independence, social and emotional skills, language growth, and self-control. Parents (who only join the class for the final activities) will also get a chance to connect with other caregivers, and share in the wonder of parenting a preschooler.
Young Child for the school-aged child (5-7 years old) Provide a pressure-free small-group class where children can develop a strong musical foundation by learning the concepts, language, notation, and vocabulary of music and its greatest composers. Prepare young children who are eager for their first experiences with musical symbols and instrument discovery but are not yet ready for formal lessons and traditional music reading with an instrument. Parents or caregivers are encouraged to attend the last 10-15 minutes of class. Children will learn to play the glockenspiel, 2-string dulcimer and recorder throughout the Young Child curriculum as well as study all orchestral instruments and many other music makers from all over the world. Don't miss a beat of their childhood! Enroll today!
